23 Oct Keboola Singapore looking to make first local hire – Job opportunity
Before you start reading, let’s do a quick check if this is worth your time.
For starters, we are not a typical company. Neither is this a typical data analytics role opening, job ad, or job description. We don’t have an office and are a completely distributed business across 8 time zones. If you are looking for a cushy corporate career-fast-track job with foosball table and three meals a day at the office, I’d recommend you swipe left on this one.
Still reading? Good, let us tell you who we are, who we think you are and who we are.
This is us
We have our roots in the Czech Republic where our proprietary data integration technology is built, this is also where a majority of our consulting team is based right now. The founding team has 8+ years of presence in Singapore and APAC market with wide range of experience from digital analytics to enterprise software. We sell and implement new grade of data preparation (read: the boring part of Data Science and Analytics nobody likes doing) & enrichment platform called Keboola Connection in the variety of use cases. We strongly encourage you to research our product or even asking us to try it before you apply for this role.
Our clients and partners in the region range from Hong Kong to New Zealand and from start up unicorns to traditional Telco or Bank with brands, everyone recognizes. See first hand some cool stuff we want you to help with building.
With our services, we have expertise and reputation for the best in class data engineering, API integration, systems automation and advanced analytics. All of these skills we already have represented in the team in superb quality and since our entire team is distributed, we emphasise processes that encourage sharing of knowledge, through regular sessions and team offsites.
Working remotely isn’t for everyone, we get it. Because of this, our values are ultimate trust, openness and responsibility. We are big on building the data community – DataDriven platform and you’ve probably heard of our Data Girls workshops or hackathons we organise!
Foremost we care about attitude more than we care about diplomas and hard skills.
This is you
You could be a grad, or you could have 2-3 years of experience, we won’t be too fussy about this kind of thing. We know that you are engaging, you don’t mind talking to people and will thrive if we put you in front of a client. You are a learner and are infinitely curious. Geeky, maybe, but you have a real-life context.
While you understand what DWH, ETL, SQL stand for, you might be flirting with R, Ruby or Py, you also understand what ROI, P&L means and is good for. Predominately you have some form of experience with visualisation tools like Tableau, Power BI, Qlik, Datorama, or Data Studio and no, Excel doesn’t count. We would like to think that you are involved in the community, have passion projects (we do too!) and we want you to demonstrate to us that this isn’t just a 9-5 kinda thing to pay bills.
You will have an opportunity to learn and expand your capability from Business Intelligence into data engineering or advanced analytics working across the projects for different clients or become involved in new business pitches and technology evangelisation in meetups and conferences. This is completely up to you. Most importantly, while junior, this is a fundamental role for a newly built local team that will only grow and so could you.
By now you have figured out that our company culture is little different and that we are not too concrete in the definition of the role. If you are keen to swipe right on us, you will define your role and you will, likely, wear more than one hat. If you are keen, drop us a note and let’s see if we match!
(Do not swipe literally, but drop us an email on firstname.lastname@example.org and tell us how weird you are!)
